Quick Speedgoat 2026 Recap

One more shorter, belated post. (I normally try to post a few days after races finish, but I’m dealing with some illness and so I’m just getting around to this now.) Maybe everyone else has moved on already, but I’m just now getting a chance to look at how the race went, and maybe others might find this interesting as well. If not, :shrug emoji:
I might have spent last weekend in bed, but many runners had impressive days in Salt Lake last weekend. That being said, David Sinclair’s and Jen Lichter’s Course Records persist:
Lauren Gregory did come close, finishing just 80 seconds slower than Jen Lichter last year (does that make Lauren is our front runner for Western States 2027?)

This year’s Speedgoat was decently warmer than last year’s race:

Carnage Charts
I would have expected more carnage in a shorter race, but that didn’t seem to be the case:
There was a bit more carnage in the women’s race, however:
Rally Charts
There were a few impressive rallies in the men’s race, with Travis Burkett and Ryan Martin jumping a few spots from 4 miles in. The men’s podium, however, was set by Mineral Basin at mile 20:
There was a good deal of jockeying in the women’s race; gold and silver were locked in all day, but Leah overtook and maintained third place somewhere between AF Canyon (15 miles) and Water Pipe (18 miles):
If anyone ever has the chance to run Speedgoat, I wholeheartedly recommend it. I was actually signed up to race Speedgoat this year, and was looking for redemption after a less-than-spectacular 2025 Speedgoat, but I had to pull out due to some weird chronic fatigue I’m dealing with. The course is difficult, but the views are epic and definitely worth it. I hope I get the chance to race it again, soon.
